Tip #20

When you obtained or try to obtain a permission for something, be sure it's officially confirmed somewhere publicly on NB (for instance in a VM) so that RP mods involved can easily verify it. Permissions given outside NB are not valid nor are screenshots taken from NB or somewhere else. Linking PM's doesn't work either, even an admin will not be able to view a PM just by clicking on a link you provided, such a link will only work for you.

Tip #21

Being specialized in something isn't only determined by you supposedly being better at something than other RPers, but also about how you are supposed to be better at it compared to all of your other skills. By default if your rank is higher, you are already supposed to be 'better' at it than someone of a lower rank, even if you have mastered the same thing. So being experienced in half of the existing basic skills is more a sign of inexperience rather than being really experienced at them. Your specializations are the things you are the best at compared to everything you know. Having as much specializations as your remaining skills, is simply contradictory to the concept of a 'specialization'. If you are specialized in so many skills, it means the difference between them is very minor and thus can't be considered real specializations and thus shouldn't be listed as such as those should clearly stand above the rest.

When you're being trained and are asked a question by the teacher, if you don't know the answer, just be honest and say so. Don't use your imagination to fetch creative replies that will, in the end, only showcase your own shortcomings. Its best to be an honest student than a gallant ignorant.

During training, you're expected to reply to it using your own words. Never copy from other trainings or from other sources unless you are asked to. If you need to consult another source for information, be sure you understand it enough to write it down in your own words. If you are caught copy pasting replies, your teacher has every right to drop your training and he'll be right to do so.

You are allowed to add to your bio things like that you are completely covered in armour to protect yourself from taijutsu attacks, however then you also need to accept that the weight, depending no how much you wear, will make you slower than people of the same rank as you and likewise that your agility will be restricted. So leave all the stuff in the nature of 'the armour is as light as a feather'; 'it does not hinder my movements at all'; 'my strength is enormous because of the armour' behind as it's a load of nonsense. You can wear armour, but you need to accept that it has drawbacks, so don't try to invalidate them.

Shurikens are faster than kunais but carry significantly less damage and penetrate less into the target than kunais. Kunais are heavier and have more bulk which allow bigger wounds and more impact but a kunai is easily seen and heard when approaching. Senbons on the other hand, can pierce deep into your target, are very silent, fast and you can throw more than once at the same time. However, senbons are hard to aim without the use of a special ability and their small size produces small wounds which are generally not fatal.

A weapon is considered a CW - and hence first has to be approved in the CJ thread - when it has at least one ability that is 'out of the ordinary'. Meaning things like having sentient abilities, sensing abilities or even just the ability to conduct chakra make the sword a custom weapon. Regular, normal weapons - even if they have something unusual - are not considered custom weapons and hence can be used freely. This refers to weapons like for example a sword that can taken apart and then reconstructed with the same parts into a crossbow.

Rank interaction between the clash of two techniques is the basic rule behind Elemental Ninjutsu fights. However, rank interaction alone is not enough to validate counters. Size and individual properties of the techniques in question have a big weight on their use against each other. A technique, even if from a higher rank, if not designed to be used as a counter, will not work against another technique. Also, a small, concentrated technique, even if from a higher rank, will not be able to defend from a big scale technique, even if its lower ranked in comparison. And beyond these factors, elemental properties and interactions play the final role. How elements interact with each other or what they can do as elements (cut, cool, heat, harden, etc) all plays a logic role in technique interactions.

Neutral elements are not part of the CE template and thus a list of neutral elements should not and can not be added to a CE submission. The reason being that every element will have a reaction one way or another with every other element in existence. Or it's strong, or it's weak or it's neutral against it. There are no other possibilities. As it is impossible to start listing all the elements, you only add the ones an element is strong/weak against, any element that is not listed or doesn't have a reason to be considered to fall under one of the already listed elements, is considered a neutral element by default.

Keep in mind that not everything can be made into a CE. It happens frequently that people submit a specific concept as a CE, but get it declined because they can't explain how it could be a CE and consequently don't understand how they could get it approved. Always have by default the mentality that CE does not and maybe can not even be approved as I've seen frequently many people having the attitude of that just having a concept for a CE, submitting it and provide some kind of explanation is enough to get it approved eventually. That is wrong as it's the exact opposite, if you can't find a viable explanation for a certain concept, it's very well possible it can never be turned into a CE.

When you get your CE approved, you become able to submit techniques for it. When you do, be smart about it and create a viable working base that will enable you both specific but also basic uses of the element. Most members forget to submit lower rank techniques for their CE but these are a smart bet. A-Rank and S-Rank techniques, by default, suffer or are expected to have restrictions, specifically in the number of times you can use them. While for A-Rank it depends on the technique, the element and its properties, for S-Ranks this is always true. If you only have S-ranks in your elements techniques, you won't be able to use it that often and won't make much use of it. Having 3 or 4 techniques of your 12 possible CEJs as a set of basic applications of your element from B-rank to S-Rank will enable you to use it more often and more rationally. Remember that B-Rank customs don't generally have a usage limit.

When a Custom Clan is approved, the maker of the clan will submit 8 techniques that will serve as the clan basic arsenal. These are supposed to encompass the usage of the clan's basic abilities as well as its most advanced ones. So make sure you have low rank and simple techniques as well as powerful high ranked ones. Also make sure that your techniques showcase what the clan is about and what its abilities are. The 4 techniques each custom clan member can submit as his own personal ones should only be submitted after these core 8 techs are done to make sure that it all makes sense and is balanced. How can a personal application of a clan's technique be made when the basic core ones are not?

Tip #35

When you want to make a custom bio based on a non-Naruto character, but that character is already taken, you have to ask permission of the person who has that bio to make a bio based on the same character. If the situation occurs that that person hasn't logged in on NB for a long time, you can ask one of the bio mods for permission. If the answer is positive the character becomes free for all, meaning everyone is allowed to make a bio of that character, but you automatically accept that if the original owner returns and he doesn't like it that there are other bios of that character, he can request to get them declined. Although the latter has rarely happened.

When you have a doubt about something regarding the RP, don't go directly to the RP Mods to ask it. First, make sure you read the threads and rules (95% of all questions asked to a mod can be easily answered by searching through the various sticky threads and rules around the base, including the bio rules, the opening post of the submission threads, the RP FAQ Guide, the battle arena rules, etc). If you still can't find it, ask a senior member or sensei or use the Q&A thread in Konoha Town; someone is bound to reply and answer you. If none of the above works, then search and ask a Mod. But remember, everytime we need to answer a question which you could have answered by searching through the RP a bit, we are wasting time we could be spending doing other things that only we can do. Help us help you!

You are obliged to use thread prefixes in the TG section to make it clear what kind of training you are doing. In most cases it's pretty obvious which prefix corresponds with which skill, however there are a few abilities that are troublesome because they can be sorted under more than one of the available prefixes and how NW approaches certain abilities is not always the same as how they were approached in the series. However only the things that are considered in the series as a KG (meaning it's tied to blood, whether it be for a clan or a single individual), should have the KG prefix like the Sharingan or Mokuton. Everything that's in the series considered a hidden ability should have the HA prefix like Nara and Akamichi clan techs. In the case of an ability like Rain, which is in fact a variation of suiton, you can use the Suiton prefix, but also the HA prefix as it's an ability specific for Ame shinobi. Another example is Puppetry, which is in reality is just a form of ninjutsu, but can also be considered a HA. So you can chose one of the corresponding prefixes.

The one month rule only applies to the act of dropping a bio, not updating it. This is because normally by default there should be much more time than a single month between two versions of the same bio as anything less would be in most cases not worthy enough to make already an update about it. If you're updating your bio so soon after it recently got approved for something minor, you are just wasting the bio mod's time, so despite it not falling under the one month rule, the mod can decline the bio for this reason.
