A Golden Age legend has died.
December 15, 2011.
Legendary co-creator of Captain America, Joe Simon, has passed away at the age of 98, reports the Facebook page of Vanguard Productions.
Simon led a prolific career that spanned many creations, characters and genres. Earlier this year, we featured an excerpt from Simon's recent biography, My Life in Comics, detailing his first meeting with his future longtime collaborator and friend Jack Kirby that led to the creation of arguably the duo's most well-known character, Captain America.
In addition, you can read a Joe Simon/Jack Kirby crime story that shows off the variety in the writer's career.
Coming in the same year that saw the loss of industry greats like Gene Colan and Jerry Robinson, our link to the Golden Age of comics is slowly dwindling.
Please sound off in the comments below with your favorite Cap moments, memories of meeting Joe Simon, or any fond memories of his vast body of work.
