Ok so there are plenty of threads like these and a lot make great of sense. My theory is about Itachi's gift to Naruto and possible outcomes in terms of Naruto's abilities, techniques and new affinities.
Ok so I was doing some browsing and I was curious as to where foxes came into Japanese mythology and more importantly where kyuubi no kitsune(nine-tailed fox) came into it.
After a little bit of research and some hypothesising, more on the hypothesising side I've come up with this theory, which may not be long enough for it's own thread so move if its necessary.
A lot of people have suggested that Itachi has given Naruto and ability that will negate Sasuke's attempts at killing him and Naruto will make him become friends again. In this weeks episode we are shown Sasuke speaking some sense in the fact that if he went back now it would be too late do to his already sinister actions and he really doesn't care, so I think Naruto vs Sasuke will be a battle to the death or until one of them is dismembered. For this to happen Naruto needs to become a lot stronger. Sasuke now has 3 affinities where Naruto has one, which compliments one of Sasuke's. Naruto has a few good techniques whereas Sasuke has many devastating techniques, therefore it is only logical that the main character be given some cool powers too.
Naruto has always relied on Kyuubi's chakra reserves being almost limitless and has always been able to pull off incredible techniques that nobody else can. It is with this reasoning that I draw the conclusion that Naruto's new powers may be derived from Kyuubi.
Kitsune are believed to possess superior intelligence, long life, and magical powers. They are a type of yōkai, or spiritual entity, and the word kitsune is often translated as fox spirit. However, this does not mean that kitsune are ghosts, nor that they are fundamentally different from regular foxes. Because the word spirit is used to reflect a state of knowledge or enlightenment, all long-lived foxes gain supernatural abilities.
There are two common classifications of kitsune. The zenko (善狐?, literally good foxes) are benevolent, celestial foxes associated with the god Inari; they are sometimes simply called Inari foxes. On the other hand, the yako (野狐?, literally field foxes, also called nogitsune) tend to be mischievous or even malicious.[8] Local traditions add further types. For example, a ninko is an invisible fox spirit that human beings can only perceive when it possesses them. Another tradition classifies kitsune into one of thirteen types defined by which supernatural abilities the kitsune possesses.
Physically, kitsune are noted for having as many as nine tails. Generally, a greater number of tails indicates an older and more powerful fox; in fact, some folktales say that a fox will only grow additional tails after it has lived 1,000 years. One, five, seven, and nine tails are the most common numbers in folk stories. When a kitsune gains its ninth tail, its fur becomes white or gold. These kyūbi no kitsune (九尾の狐?, nine-tailed foxes) gain the abilities to see and hear anything happening anywhere in the world. Other tales attribute them infinite wisdom (omniscience).
I believe Kyuubi to be a Yako. One of the techniques Naruto may gain/develop may be the ability to hear or see anything in the world or just at a really long range.
Other supernatural abilities commonly attributed to the kitsune include possession, mouths or tails that generate fire or lightning (known as kitsune-bi; literally, fox-fire), willful manifestation in the dreams of others, flight, invisibility, and the creation of illusions so elaborate as to be almost indistinguishable from reality. Some tales speak of kitsune with even greater powers, able to bend time and space, drive people mad, or take fantastic shapes such as a tree of incredible height or a second moon in the sky. Other kitsune have characteristics reminiscent of vampires or succubi and feed on the life or spirit of human beings, generally through sexual contact.
Any of these listed abilities:
-Fire Affinity
-Lightning Affinity
-Some Advanced Genjutsu
-Flight or a technique that allows him levitation.
-Invisibility, although there is a technique like this, Hiding Camouflage Technique, I think the extent of Naruto's would be so that he is completely invisible, meaning his chakra cannot be seen or sensed as well as his physical body.
-Time/Space Jutsu, possibly like Madara's but obviously without the Sharingan. Naruto, hopefully, if he gains this power, may also be able to stop time and reverse it.
-Madness Jutsu, possibly a type of Genjutsu but considering his massive chakra reserves I think this may be plausible. I think that a Madness Jutsu would consist of Naruto casting the jutsu onto his enemies and not knowing that they are in a Genjutsu they would attack each other, only seeing Naruto. This technique would work perfectly if Naruto had used Kage Bunshin No Jutsu previously in the battle, therefore his enemies would expect they were destroying clones when they were actually fighting each other.
I think the second moon in the sky is a possibly coincidental one
Considering Itachi only had two symbols, the crow and the moon. Itachi seems to have plans for Naruto so I am thinking the whole moon "Eye of the Moon Plan" (月の眼計画, Tsuki no Me Keikaku) has something to do with the powers of Kyuubi as a whole being. I think that Madara wants to have the powers of Kyuubi and that is why he chose Kyuubi to attack with in the first place. It would explain his Time/Space Jutsu and the fact that he, like any highly skilled Sharingan user, can use elaborate jutsu. Now that I think about it I might write up a new theory going off these thoughts here

One more theory comming up...
I am not thinking this is true...But suppose Itachi gave Naruto Susanoo? Susanoo from what we have seen seems to change form according to the Chakra type that uses it (i.e Itachi's normal chakra vs Sasukes dark chakra). So when Naruto uses it...Maybe its Kyuubi Chakra? Just an interesting thought.

I think the next power up is going to be something related to water and related to Naruto's mom. I mean, she was from the land of the whirlpool, and i think Jiraya said something about her and her water-nature affinity (not sure about this tho). If this is true, than we just need to look at genetics. Naruto's mom had water-style so perhaps he could inherit it from her.
