debunking the speedblitz myth with manga feats

I'll be the first to say that speed is an essential factor in any ninja's skill set but I keep hearing a dumb argument that if a character is fairly faster than another character, that slower character won't be able to keep up, land a hit, or even be able to defend themselves and just get speed blitzed. This is clearly not how anything plays out, as shown in the manga.
    Here are a few examples:

Naruto (3.5 in speed at this point) was able to successfully react and block a sudden attack from Chiyo(4 in speed)

Kisame (4 in speed) was able to successfully able to react and counter Killer Bee in his chakra cloak

Obito was able to successfully fend off Naruto and Guy's simultaneous attacks despite both having raikage-like speed levels.

Shikamaru (2.5 speed) is able to avoid a surprise attack from Kakuzu(4 speed)

Hidan(only a 3.5) was able to skillfully outmaneuver Asuma(4.5) despite having a lower speed and fight evenly with Kakashi(4.5)

The power of anticipation can also be valuable counter, Bee was able to react to Minato's FTG

That said, speed is valuable asset and gives an advantage but people extremely overrate it's power and think it = invincibility.

I think this is a far bigger problem in places like the NF in comparison to here, but I agree nonetheless.

kinda obvious. if a opponent is high tier then they wont be blitzed under any circumstance in a fair fight.

See the thing is, you're assuming that these people have been moving at their maximum speed at all times during their fights. That is not necessarily the case.

Show Joki this thread because he thinks Kiba can just blitz Shikamaru or/and Temari due to his superior speed and rip their heads off.

Anyway I agree but can't rep you so I'll spread it later on. Remind me if I forget to do so.

Re: debunking the speedblitz myth with manga feats

This thread is about ninjas who are so fast that they can "blitz" almost any oppenents with their speed and use it to primarily take down their opponents.

Prime examples of Ninja who have used speed in the past to overwhelm their opponents:

    1)Minato
    2)4th Raikage
    3)3rd Raikage
    4)Lee
    5)Guy
    6)Naruto
    7)Itachi
    8)Kakashi
    9)Sasuke

Well, all of the ninja listed are considered fast and can use their speed to gain an advantage in a fight, but what is the point in which a ninja's speed is considered to be fast enough in order to "blitz" an opponent?

Now in order to do that we must define the term blitzing

Blitzing, in general, is defined as sudden/intense/lightning fast attack; in this case, however, it is referred to as a series of attacks that are so fast that the opponent is unable to react to them.

Throughout the manga, we have seen plenty of times the people listed above have used speed to take out their opponents, and almost any of the people listed above could do a one-shot "blitz" before their opponent actually reacts, but only a few of them have actually demonstrated speed that hardly anyone else is able to physically react to in order to truly blitz their opponent with in rapid succession with a series of attacks.

    These people are as listed:
    1)Minato
    2)4th Raikage
    3)3rd Raikage
    4)Lee
    5)Guy
    6)Haku

Now you might be wondering, "why is Naruto not on this list? He has KM/BM and has proven to be even faster than the raikage himself."

Now to answer this, Naruto is relatively new to his newfound speed and, as such, has not used it unless he absolutely needed to.

Now you may be asking, "Why would he not use this speed on a regular basis?"

For one, Naruto is unused to moving at such speeds for long periods of time and has not shown anything else other than extremely fast one-shot attacks/movements. It is also not his style of fighting since he relies mostly on shadow clones to overwhelm his opponents. Compared to the above mentioned, who have trained the majority of their lives incorporating their overwhelming speed into their fighting style, Naruto is much more likely to hurt himself than they are do to him being unused to this kind of speed and had done so when he first tried to use his speed to attack Kisame.

So far, Naruto has kept himself from utilizing his full speed in order to keep from hurting himself. Anyone who says otherwise is not taking into consideration the amount of time and effort it takes to fully and effectively develop one's speed while incorporating it into their fighting style as the others have.

Since that is out of the way, we can now proceed to discuss about the people who have demonstrated the ability to overwhwlm their opponents with speed.

Now, the first time we saw someone truly blitzing an opponent was when Lee opened the gates to bypass Gaaras sand and proceeded to attack Gaara repeatedly and extremely quickly.

The next time we saw someone blitzing an opponent was when Guy first opened the gates to attack the Kisame clone before he could react, completely overwhelming him with attacks. While it wasn't a true blitz like Lee has done, it is implied that, as Lee's sensei, that he could do the same thing himself.

Next on the list is the raikages. The raikages have developed the lightning armor to increase their reflexes/reaction time and combined with the body flicker technique makes them one of the fastest in the world. The raikages, while able to overwhelm their opponents with devastating speed and power have not yet shown the ability to repeatedly attack the same target in a blitz-like manner and instead have used it to make-extremly quick and powerful one-shot burst attacks that can obliterate almost anything in their path. This linear attack style keeps them from moving in a circular fashion which reduces their overall agility, but allows them to maneuver across a battlefield quickly and efficiently.

Another person on this list is Haku. His actual speed isnt the greatest, but he can move between his ice mirrors extremely quickly, making him nigh-untouchable when using his ice mirrors techniques. He has shown this speed in the beginning of the manga when facing off against Naruto and Sasuke

Last but not least is Minato, who is considered the fastest in the NV due to his FTG technique and his superior reflexes. While his base speed is fairly impressive, it is his FTG that grants him such manueverability that he is capable of taking out an entire platoon of ninja in mere seconds with it. Though his technique it is not classified as speed, the speed at which he uses the technique it still allows him to effectively blitz any person in the vicinity of a marked kunai or a teleportation seal.

Here are examples of blitzing an opponent using the NUNSG game. This is just to get an understanding of what true blitzing looks like, even though some are a bit exaggerated and not exactly canon according what each has shown in the manga

So, with all of this in mind, it is safe to say that the only people who are capable of truly blitzing an opponent would be Guy, Lee, Haku with his ice mirrors, and Minato with his FTG. As mentioned earlier, the raikages do not try to attack their opponents reapeatedly with super quick attacks, but rather go for a linear, one-shot attack to finish their opponents.

Well you should be the last ones trying to debunk this thread since apparently some people think that Hashirama (your favourite character) will get blitz by the likes of Sasuke, Itachi or Kakashi since his speed feats as an edo were very lacklustre.

So what if people think Hashirama's performance as an Edo was legitimate? How does their thinking affect me? And why would I be the last one trying to debunk the thread?

All ninja's are equal in Reflexes and running/jumping
If half of the attacks you showed were actual blitzes then most of them probably wouldn't have defended from it completely

I disagree on a few minor things but I think we can both agree that most ninjas aren't capable of such speed blitzes. Only a select few speedsters are capable of such a method of attack that you listed. Good reply

i think the manga tends to differ.....sharingan offers higher reflex, lighting armor higher reflex, minato, natural higher reflexes....
