This story tells us about the great rabbi, his name was Balau Shem Tov..

Balau Shem Tov was praised and respected by all, because people were talking that he was so pious, so friendly, so good and so clean that even the God used to listen to his words.

And so, a tradition was created in his village. All people that had unfulfilled wishes, problems, or were in need of something, went to old rabbi.

Bal Shem Tov used to met with them on a special day he choose, every year. And on that special day, he used to led them to a special place, deep inside the forest. And when they arrived to the place, legend says, that he used branches and leaves to light a fire in a very special way, and then quietly, he used to start praying, praying so quiet as he was praying for himself..

    And legend says..

that God liked rabbi's words, that God got amazed by fire lit in such a way, and loved all that people gathered on that special place in the forest...that he couldn't resist rabbi's prayers, and so, he used to fulfill the wishes of all the people gathered there...

Time passed and someday day, old rabbi died...and then, people noticed that no one knew those words, those prayers, old rabbi used to say on that special day. But they remembered where special place in the forest was, and they remembered the way old rabbi was lighting fire in.
And so, following the tradition, once a year, people used to gather at the special place in the forest, and lit the fire in the way old rabbi used to. They didn't know rabbi's prayers, so they used to tell a psalm, tell a prayer on their own, or simply talk among themselves.

    And legend says..

that God liked that fire lit in that special way, God loved those people gathered on that special place in the forest...that, even if they didn't tell words rabbi used to, he used to fulfill the wishes of all the people gathered there...

Time passed, and from generation to generation wisdom faded...
    And here are we, today...
We don't know where the special place in the forest is...
    We don't know rabbi's words...
We don't remember that special way rabbi used to lit fire in...
But there is something we know.

    We know this history....

    We know this story...

    And legend says...

that God loves this story that much,
    he likes this history,
so it is enough someone to tell it,
and someone to listen to it,
so He would be so pleased,
so he would fulfill the wishes of all the people sharing this moment...

    So, be it...

i like this story. i have a little bit of jewish background and in some stories, jewish people were ask to offer sacrifices like lamb (or an innocent animal) for petitions and prayers. we were told that G*d loved the smell of smoke coming from the grilled/bbq meat. basically, once this animal was sacrificed, the tribe gathers for a feast. this story reminded me this. good one gama, brings back alot of memories... um, and yes. im kosher :D
